Samantha took the envelope and removed the card. She read the brief message
once, twice, then, a third time. When she raised her eyes to his, she
smiled. "Are you? Even when I know I look less healthy than the guests at
the morgue?"
Keeping the card in one hand, she stood and extended her other. "I did miss
what you said and I'm sorry for that. I think going outside pushed my
limited energy a little too far, but I have enough to offer you coffee. If
you'd like."
